Dresses @ The Office

above dress from target :)

I can't seem to get enough of the fact the weather is now nice enough to break free from the confinement of what we call work slacks. (although I must admit they are pretty comfortable)! I love when I can start wearing [work appropriate] dresses with light cardigans to work as it is chic, hassle-free, and you got fewer pieces of clothing you have to worry about! As a long time pattern-phobe freak, I was always weary of wearing any dress that wasn't a solid color with minimal detailing. I would steer clear away from anything like what I am wearing today. If you are a pattern-phobe like I was; i have one thing to tell you; it's really not that scary, I promise. If you're scared that your choice won't be versatile, you'd be surprised how mixing and matching key pieces can really create an awesome look. I am loving anything from
Lauren Conrad for Kohls line and anything from Target!
Here are my tips when dress shopping for work. :)

1. Make sure that it is not too short or has too low of a neckline
The last thing you want is to attract unwanted attention from your coworkers (male AND female, the boys will stare & the ladies will snarl) So make sure that your dress is of appropriate lengths both ways. You also don't want to be worrying about your dress riding up or unwanted chest views when that pack of pens falls to the floor. The last thing you want is to look like this girls. D'oh!

2. Make sure your pattern is not TOO flashy.

There is a clear difference between coming out of your comfort zone and trying new bold patterns and looking like you just came back from Carnaval in Rio. Keeping your colors tame and your patterns reasonable. You want to make sure you keep your professionalism and your common sense.

3. Make sure that it is comfortable!
The last thing you want is to be completely uncomfortable with the dress of your choice, because if that was the case I bet half of us would rather rock the slacks. Make sure that it fits properly and that it is of a comfortable material (if it's a struggle to get into it, fuggedabouit!)Cotton is always a great option as it is flexible and soft. The polyester&Rayon combinations are also great. No matter what material you pick, as long as you feel good in it, that's all that matters!

4. If you have a pattern, keep your accessories to a minimum.
This is a must! Timeless key pieces such as a watch, dainty necklaces, and simple rings are a gals best friend when you are rockin a dress that already has is already a bit busy on its own. This is one of my favorite watches of all time. Goes with anything!

So there you go, just a couple of things to keep in mind next time you decide to step out of the dull slacks & button down shell and go for work appropriate dresses!

Whats your go to rule when it comes to picking out work clothes? I wanna know!
